Sudden Rain

by Diane Funston

The once-clear night changes
slides into mist
a lacy lingerie
gauzy covering
over full stars

Air is still as inhaled breath
holds promises
getting heavy
with chill
and need

Full moon shyly
drapes velvet clouds
over her breasts
then unashamed moisture
makes sidewalks glisten
